Privacy policy

This explains what Hicksville Auto Recyclers collects when you use this website, why we hold it, and who else sees it. We have tried to write it in plain English rather than the usual thing.

What we collect

• When you buy a part: your name, email, phone number, delivery and billing address, and what you ordered.
• When you open an account: the same contact details, plus any vehicles you save to your garage and parts you save for later.
• When you chat or ask a fitment question: your name, email, phone number if you give one, and what you write to us.
• When you sign in: the time and the IP address the request came from. We keep this to spot someone trying to break into an account.

What we do not collect

We never see your card number. The card fields on our checkout are hosted by our payment gateway and the number goes straight to them — it does not pass through this website or our servers. We are told the brand and the last four digits so your receipt can say which card was used, and nothing else.

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for anyone else’s advertising.

Who else sees it

Only the companies that make the order actually happen, and only the part each one needs:

• Our payment gateway takes the card payment and needs the billing name and address to do it.
• The carrier — UPS, USPS, FedEx or DHL — needs the delivery address to bring you the part.
• Our email provider sends your receipt and any updates about the order.
• Our hosting and database providers run the website and store the account itself.
• Our texting provider carries a text message to your phone when you have asked us to use it, in the same way the email provider carries an email. It is given the number and the message, and nothing else about you.
• Microsoft Clarity receives how the public pages of the site were used — pages, clicks and scrolling. It is not given your order, your address or your card.

Text messages, and your mobile number

If you give us a mobile number and agree to be texted, we use it for the parts you have asked us to find and the orders you have placed: a quote with a link to view and pay, an answer from the parts desk when you reply, and news of an order such as when it ships. We do not send advertising by text.

We do not sell your mobile number, and we do not share it or your agreement to be texted with anybody else for their marketing or promotional purposes. The only companies that see it are the ones needed to deliver the message you asked for — our texting provider and your own mobile carrier — and they may not use it for anything else. Neither your number nor your consent is passed to any other party for any other purpose.

Message frequency varies: texts follow a request or an order of yours, so most people get a few around a part they are buying and none in between. Message and data rates may apply from your own carrier; we charge nothing for them.

You can stop the texts at any time by replying STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT, OPTOUT, REVOKE to any message we have sent, or on our opt-out page. Reply HELP or INFO for help, or START, YES, UNSTOP to start them again. We keep a record of when a number agreed to be texted and when it asked us to stop, so we can honour it and show that we did.

How long we keep it

Orders are kept as long as the law requires us to keep sales records. Account details are kept until you ask us to remove them. Chats are kept so we can see what was already said if you come back with the same question.

Your choices

You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and its details. Email or call and we will do it — we will need to be sure it is you asking first.

Deleting an account does not remove the record of orders you have already placed, because we are required to keep those.

Cookies

We use cookies to keep you signed in, to remember your basket, and to remember a chat you have started so you can come back to it. We do not use advertising cookies and we do not sell what we measure.

How we measure the site

On the public pages of this website we use Microsoft Clarity to see how the site is actually used — which pages people look at, where they get stuck, and where a layout is not working on a phone. It records page views and interactions like clicks and scrolling, and it sets its own cookie to recognise a return visit.

It is not used in the staff console, and it is not used to build a profile of you or to advertise to you.

Most browsers let you refuse cookies or send a “Do Not Track” signal in their settings, and you can read what Microsoft does with this data in their own privacy statement.

Children

This is a truck parts business and the site is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their information.
